Landing pages are single-pages (sometimes within your website or a stand alone domain) that are used to direct people through your product or service benefits in order for them to give you their email address or purchase something from you.
People are often brought to your landing page from a specific ad that’s targeted to the content on the landing page.
A landing page is different than other pages on your website as it has a very focused message and call-to-action (the thing you want them to do – like provide an email address, or buy something for example). And the page also has no other distractions (like a menu) or other links that may take a person away from the call-to-action.
You’ve probably seen one if you clicked on a link in Facebook for a product you were interested in (like a secret decoder ring!). The page you “landed” on after you clicked the ad is a landing page – with the sole purpose of trying to get you to do something.
